API Pacific’s Managing Director Richard Flax moved to Indonesia in 1975, to escape the comforts of the West, he chose the remote island paradise of Bali.

Poor medical facilities resulted in Richard using his medical kit to avert medical disasters. It became apparent that the safety of his friends and family needed serious consideration. By the mid 80’s Richard had developed a relationship with Expacare and while advocating medical safety for his friends, he became aware that The South East Asian region needed greater medical safeguards.

Over the years it became apparent that the medical systems that suited most of the world were not the most effective for the Asian region. In response to this growing need Richard proposed an alternative system to the senior management of Expacare and Jardine Lloyd Thompson, U.K.

After a detailed investigation and study into the suitability of these proposals,  Expacare implemented a unique medical system with exceedingly positive results to operations in Asia. Effectively establishing an autonomous system for the region. Shortly thereafter this unique business partnership was further strengthened between API Pacific and Expacare by further developments strengthening their operations and presence in the region.

Astro Pertama Indonesia is part of the API Pacific group an entirely foreign owned Indonesian subsidiary company operating under the foreign investment laws of Indonesia.
